knee discomfort
About one month ago I suffered a sprained knee on my right leg.I was doing my usual long Saturday 10 mi. run. The pain was excruiciating, unlike any other pain I have ever felt on my knee before.I felt plain discomfort and soreness at first but later that night I felt it very strongly. I thought I was just sore from running a lot of hills. However, as the week continued the pain increased to an even higher level. I visited my doctor as I was finding it difficult to conduct myself in everyday activities without experiencing extreme difficutly and pain. The doc told me I would be fine but to let it rest...I was lucky. Now its been another 3 weeks and to say the pain is gone would be a miracle. I would love to wake up tomorrow and have all the stiffness and discomfort disappear. Although it is not as painful as before I fear I may have damaged my knee by continuing to run in the past when my knee felt tender. Although I know eventually it will get better it is very stressful to deal with NOT being able to have the active lifestyle I had before. I was running 50 miles or so a week. 20 on the weekends. From that I have gone to walking slowly on the treadmill for maybe a mile or 2 a day or every other day. My body is declining physically, I can feel the difference. I got sick with the flu then shortly after a cold. Now , this sounds stupid to some but I have always had a high immune system and becaues i have been very active the common cold is something I last had over 2 years ago.I take vitimins regularly and also take supplements to enhance joint recovery. Its very frustrating and I dont know exactly how to deal with it. I ask people advice and all they tell me is give it time. BUT time is a killer man! Im just curious if anyone out there as any insight or has experienced anythng similar?
