I.T. Band Surgery
Hi, I had I.T. Band surgery a little over a month ago after 9 months of trying everything else. I've had 2 Cortisone shots, oral steroids, orthotics, deep tissue massage, ultrasound, stim, stretching numerous times a day, icing like crazy, etc. Before my injury last summer, I was a state runner up in multiple distance events as a high school senior. Running is the only thing in life that I actually love to do, so the last year has been the worst of my life. The decision to have surgery was tough, and I've missed the entire first year of running in college. It's been a little over a month since my surgery and my knee still hurts just from walking around. I am unable to run and even biking hurts a bit (which rarely hurt before surgery). If I'm not able to run Cross Country in the fall then I don't know what I'm going to do. Then there is the ever present nightmare that I will either not be able to run, or never be able to run the way I did ever again. Does anyone know how long after I.T. Band surgery it is normal to still be feeling pain? How long does it take before I will be able to run again? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried to run today and it hurt so bad I seriously wanted to cry. I'm hoping someone can help. Thanks.
